The Pillars of Community XVII: Single in Community (1 Corinthians 7)
Are singles second class citizens in the kingdom of heaven? We know they're not, but they can sometimes be treated that way.
In this sermon, Pastor Josh encourage singles to be God-honoring, content, and productive members of the community, and encourage families to intentionally integrate singles into the community.
PLEASE NOTE: This topic also covers sex in a frank manner.

Just listened to last Sunday's sermon. As it started and progressed I started to feel that the focus was on sex rather than the true issues of being a Christian who is single. I thought, "this is good and useful stuff, but may not be an issue to the women I know."
Forgive me for complimenting my son, in that I feel the information, as usual took a different approach, and also gave new info, and was really valuable...
As I listened, the parts that I feared would be left out were added, but I thought may have been eclipsed by the preceding material.
First, I want to say that most of the single women I know at the Gathering appear to be doing well, serving faithfully in remarkable ways. Not only that, they are not isolating themselves from us married ladies, but they are rather serving us as amazing sisters.
Our times in Mexico has exposed us to many young women, and older women who serve as missionaries, or were doing their stint of a year or so with YWAM or Campus Crusade for Christ, or MisÃon Victoria.
Many of these have found husbands on the field while they were serving faithfully, and have been "surprised by God" as He brought the man of their dreams.
Others, still serving faithfully have felt that they could not make plans for the next thing because they desired so much to be a wife, and have a husband to serve besides in their missionary work. I have heard these sweet, amazing gals hearts and I have prayed with them, and prayed for them, as I believed with them that God would not have left the desire to be a wife if He did not intend to bring the bridegroom along.
I know such wonderful and beautiful stories. I have told them to encourage these young women, and even a few older women.
I agree that separating the "singles" from the "marrieds with children" of our body is very Undesirable. I think it would be great if at some point in time we could hear the testimonies of these who have waited and received. It could encourage those who are waiting....and edify those who are married.
